What is organic animal husbandry?


It is the organic live stock production with out the use of synthetic inputs such as feed, antibiotics, hormones and genetically modified organisms.



What is the major point to be focused in the animal husbandry?


Adequate facility shall be provided to the animals by considering their natural behaviour in order to reduce stress for their good health and welfare.



Can we use antibiotics in the case of high mortality situations?


In the unavoidable cases the antibiotics can be used with the proper permission from certification body and the withholding period must be double than that of the legal withholding period by considering the respective live stock.The treatment shall be substantiated with proper documentation and monitoring through the veterinary doctor.



What is withholding period?


It is the time period between the withdrawals of a drug from the treatment of an animal before its product can be used for human consumption.



Are Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic treatments allowed?


Both Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic treatments are allowed



What will be the conversion period?


The conversion periods are clearly mentioned in the standards and kindly refer the clause 3.3.2 of NSOP.
